FOCUS: GOOD GOVERNANCE, EDUCATION, WOMEN AND YOUTH DEVELOPMENT

From 1999 when Nigeria returned again to civilian administration, the country has witnessed different trends in the evolution of a political culture. There has been a continuous struggle to chart a course for good governance. Therefore the need for leaders who are accountable, transparent, honest, adaptable and good stewards of resources and also, the need for the proper enlightenment of the masses on their civic roles towards the enthronement of good leadership in Nigeria cannot be overstated.

Amongst other reasons, GLEF came into being because of the belief that if Nigeria is to attain the above goals, there should be a group that is committed to ensuring it. GLEF was born out of a genuine concern, love and passion for the progress of Nigeria. We believe in the “Big project” called ‘Nigeria’ and we believe Nigeria can be steered in the right direction and progress in that direction can only be sustained if we (Nigerians), make deliberate effort to stop being arm chair critics. Rather, with a positive mind begin to actively get involved in dealing with the issues that affect us as a nation and in particular the quality of our leadership which must not be compromised.

GLEF is driven by the conviction that as Nigerians, we have a responsibility to assist in the duty of breaking the vicious cycle of poverty, underdevelopment and marginalization which has always been the end result of bad governance

In a nutshell, GLEF intends to apply a holistic approach through effective mobilization and sensitization of public office holders, aspiring political office holders, as well as the led, to engender the process of sustainable development and good Governance in Nigeria.
